There has been a high degree of perversion in
the world today towards education. Most youths are now indifferent when it
comes to education most especially higher degree of education (Universities, Polytechnics
and Colleges).

Nigeria is one country whose youths have total
resentment for education but are more focused on financial success (Money). Ask
any student around you why He/she is not serious in school and the response
will be education is nothing jor!!
Ø
The next statement that may follow will be Bill
Gates dropped out of school afterall, how many degrees has Aliko Dangote? Yet
he employs Ph.D holders. If care is not taken, the whole day will end up being a
controversial day.
Ø
They will tell you even Nairaland Boss dropped
out of school. Linda ekeji is not a Professor, yet she put up an edifice in a
gold mine area like Banana Island. The amazing part of the story is that all
the aforementioned personality and other well-to dos are immensely educated.

The reason is because there are basically two
forms of learning:
Ø
Structured learning (ii) Unstructured learning
Ø
Structured learning: This type of learning is
what you get in Universities, Polytechnics and other higher institutions of
learning.
Ø
Researches and discoveries in sciences, arts and
commercial world have been processed into synopsis (outlined courses) and
arranged in order of evolution and complexity. The learning process here has
been arranged in levels – 100, 200, 300 e.t.c.
Ø
People categorize these people as the educated
folks, but alas! This is far from the truth. In ancient times, textbooks were
not written as they are now. They were written in journal format, literally
like a research work compiled to make a reference material called textbook.
Ø
Gregor Mendel-the father of genetics was a Monk
(seemingly uneducated) yet people in the field of genetic engineering are
building on his work. His works are compiled in Biology textbooks and students
read it for them to pass exams (structured learning).
Ø
Michael Faraday was a binder, yet his name is a
stronghold in Physics. Does that mean they are uneducated? No. Theirs was just
an unstructured form of learning. Such learning process was not arranged in
courses like what is obtained in higher Institutions albeit it is still the
same learning process.
Ø
Seun Osewa of Nairaland may have dropped out of
school but he must have learnt so much for him to establish such a forum. He is undoubtedly a Masters’ Degree holder in
Internet Business (unstructured way).
Ø
New courses that are introduced into the
structured system curriculum is as a result of proven experimentation of their
relevance in the world. Entrepreneurial studies (EPS) is now a compulsory
course in most universities because it has been tested and trusted.
Ø
These courses are as a result of the success of
people like Mike Adenuga, Aliko Dangote, Bill Gate who have learnt them
unstructurally and then compiled by Educationist into a structured form for
student to study and be examined at.
Ø
This reformation more often than not, back fire
because what most students do is to cram the principle and pour it down for the
examiner not knowing the nitty-gritty of such course, the reason why most
people who graduated with good grades may not be able to offer the world
solution to its problem.
Ø
There tends to be resounding success among those
that learned it in the unstructured (practical) form than the structured. Can
you now see that all successful people (academicians, business mogul,
entertainment giants) are Educated?
